Photos of employees elementary schools in Middleton (Idaho), which as a Halloween costume picked stereotypical images of Mexicans as well as costume border wall with the slogan «let’s Make America great again» quickly went viral.

Yesterday (November 2), the head of the school district Josh Middleton has posted a video on the page of the Middleton School District in Facebook, condemning the decision of the representatives of the Middleton Heights Elementary School.

«We’re better than this, stated Middleton. — I just wanted to share what is happening and to Express my sincere and deepest apology to our families.»

The head of the Middleton School District has added that, probably, the school staff had no malicious intentions, they just made a bad decision. According to Middleton, the County will investigate the incident.

In comments to the video users the vast majority are outraged by the photos, and many require that staff photos were dismissed or punished for inappropriate teachers behavior.

Beth Almanza, defender of the rights of immigrants, working with a group of Idaho DACA Students, called the photos «very unfortunate» and «heartbreaking».

Also yesterday I created a petition on MoveOn.org titled «No to racism in Middleton School District«. At the moment it has collected more than 4 thousand signatures. The authors demand that the district transform the school culture to compensate some students harm and take a proactive approach in matters of race, ethnicity and nationality.
