The legal defense Fund animals failed to achieve a ban on the ritual killing of chickens on the streets of Brooklyn. The court of new York ruled in favor of this non-profit organization, hoping to put an end to the ancient Jewish rite of kaparot.
Every year during the expiatory ritual on the streets of Brooklyn is sacrificed about 50 thousand birds. «This is the replacement me, it’s — for me, this is my redemption! they said kaparot. This rooster will go to sacrifice, but mine will be a prosperous long life and peace.»
Animal advocates say that the ceremony is very cruel. Some of the future victims for days waiting for their unenviable fate in overcrowded cells, which creates unsanitary conditions in public places.

And yet the court ruled in favor of activists. Lawyer Nora Constance Marino, representing a group of animal rights, declared that its customers will not abandon the struggle.
«The concern is that the city continues to turn a blind eye to the violation of the 15 laws, said Marino. — We consider other remedies».
This was not the first unsuccessful attempt to ban kaparot. In 2015, the residents of Brooklyn and the Alliance to End Chickens as Kaporos, an Association, speaking against the ritual killing of chickens, was also lost.
