American paid $110 thousand for the right to kill in Pakistan rare horned goat

A financier from Dallas (Texas) paid $110 million to the government of Pakistan for the «trophy killing» rare horned mountain goat. These animals are also called a markhor.

In the video, the Texan Brian Harlan posing with the dead goat on a background of mountain peaks in the Northern Himalayan region of Gilgit-Baltistan (Pakistan).

«I’m honored to return to Pakistan. I came here for the third time, previously hunted different animals, but markhor saved «for starters,» said Harlan, one of the Pakistani TV channels.

Although hunting wild animals was prohibited in Pakistan, the government allows foreign hunters for a large sum to shoot 12 horned goats-males during the hunting season.

According to authorities, 80% of the money is donated to a local community, and the remaining amount goes to the Pakistani Agency for the protection of wildlife.

As of 2011, the world was only 2,500 markhor. These goats live in the Himalayan mountains in Afghanistan, India and Pakistan, their horns can grow up to 5 feet (152 cm) in length.

When markhor due to deforestation, war and poaching began to decline rapidly, efforts were made to rescue them. The international Union for conservation of nature currently klassificeret horned goat as a «threatened species».

Tabarak Ullah, a Pakistani hunter, who helped the Harlan, told The Post that the limited hunting that pays that kind of money, contributes to the preservation of nature and the funds are used to improve local health and education.
