The law, according to which the buildings of the new York courts use restrooms based on gender identity, entered into force

25 February in the buildings of the courts of new York people can use the bathroom based on the gender with which they themselves identificeret, not the gender with which they were born. A man who considers himself a woman can use a female toilet and Vice versa.

Monday these changes came into force in all state, County and city courts in the state of new York.

«Our policy is that everyone has the right to use the toilet that corresponds to their own gender identity,» said Thursday Lucien Chalfen, a representative of the Unified court system of the state (Unified Court System).

Calvin stressed that a woman who perceives herself as a woman, should continue to use the women’s room, no matter how long the queue is.

«It’s not comfortable, stressed Chalfen. — We are talking about the expression of their gender identity.»

Signs explaining the new rules, will be posted in all 330 buildings, which are state, County or city courts, including most of the town halls. Chalfen said that while these characters are still being developed.

«They will be very easy, she added. — If you need to use the toilet, you don’t have to spend five minutes to read signs».

This innovation has followed the law GENDA (Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act) «On the prohibition of discrimination based on gender expression» and a law banning the use of conversion therapy, which was signed by Andrew Cuomo on January 25.

«As the most progressive state in the country, the cradle of the modern movement for the rights of LGBTQ, new York has always been at the forefront of the struggle for the rights of all citizens, said Governor Cuomo. — Signed the law GENDA and a ban on fraudulent practices of conversion therapy, we are taking another huge step forward towards equality for all new Yorkers, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. Once again we clearly and proudly given to understand that in our state there is no place of hatred, everyone who is accused of intolerance and discrimination, will bear for it responsibility».
