Lawmakers in new York and Nevada want forcibly to scanning the phones of people involved in the incident

In recent years, the problem of diverted driving has become a real nightmare for US residents. This is often due to mobile phones, where drivers focus their attention, creating an emergency situation on the road.

According to the National safety administration highway traffic (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration – NHTSA), in 2016, almost 500 people died due to the use of smartphones during traffic. However, experts are convinced that statistics are underestimated several times.

According to them, the vast majority of cases people are either hiding the true cause of the accident, or it cannot be installed because of the death of the culprit. However, the authorities of the States of new York and Nevada are going to solve this problem.

To do this, the legislators of the above-mentioned regions suggest using special software to scanning the phones of drivers involved in an accident. That should show whether committed with the device any action before the accident.

In new York the bill was already submitted in 2017, but lawmakers did not support it. However, the situation forced them to reconsider the proposal. In Nevada this was a long time at the stage of discussions and there is a high probability that it will soon «adopt».

It is expected that law enforcement will use Israeli development, called «textalyzer». The program allows you to connect to another phone and scan it. It shows whether the used man mobile device recently. Recorded as a set of text and viewing of any site, multimedia content and any other action of the owner of the phone.

The developer assures us that the access device is limited. The program supposedly can’t scan personal data, but human rights activists think otherwise. In their opinion, the use of such software is a violation of the 4 amendment and amounts to unlawful search. Now law enforcement officers must obtain a warrant to get access to the device in an accident. However, this process is time consuming, impacting negatively on the effectiveness of police work.

If Nevada lawmakers approve the use of «textalyzer» law enforcement, the program will start to operate in test mode. It is not excluded that in the near future, similar capabilities will receive the police of the state of new York.
