The Treasurer of a charitable organization, the NYPD was accused of stealing $410 000

The US attorney’s office in the southern district of new York finds that 68-year-old Lorraine Shanley of Staten island guilty to fraud and identity theft with aggravating circumstances. According to the Prosecutor, she used her ability a voluntary Treasurer of a nonprofit charity to steal $ 410 000. These funds were intended benefactors for the families of officers of the NYPD killed in the line of duty.

Shanley, said in a statement on the website of the Department of justice, spent them at its discretion including bought for $ 1400 tickets for the concert of Barbra Streisand. Part of the stolen went of dental services, to pay for education of her grandson in a private school and the cost of legal services for his son, who was under criminal prosecution. The concert Barbra Streisand is not the only game in the list, just on different tickets, spent $ 8 thousand

Shanley was arrested today and will appear before court in Manhattan. The U.S. attorney Jeffrey S. Berman notes that the suspect stole nearly 20% of the donations received at the disposal of this charity during her «work» there from 2010 to 2017. If the court will side with the prosecution, she could face about 30 years in prison.
