A man has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Postal service because he was required to work on Sundays

A former postman from Pennsylvania accused the Postal service of the United States (United States Postal Service) in violation of his rights for the requirement to work on Sundays.

Gerald groff, Christian-Evangelist, filed on Friday a lawsuit against Federal Agency, claiming that he was fired from the position after refusing to work on Sundays for religious reasons.

The lawsuit alleges that initially, groff worked on the «flexible schedule», instead of choosing a Sunday, holiday, evening and Saturday hours, when others did not want to work.

A man who worked for the USPS for seven years, said later the Agency began to implement a policy «without exceptions» and «over-disciplined him.» Disciplinary methods included suspension from work for up to two weeks.

The lawsuit States that in the end the man was fired.

«In a free and respectful society, the government must recognize those differences between us that make us great, not to punish for these differences, particularly religious ones,» said David Arkansas, one of the lawyers representing Groff.

Press Secretary USPS said the publication of Lancaster Online, the Agency usually does not comment on the upcoming trial.

The claim requires the restoration Groff in the position with compensation for emotional stress.

The complaint also requested the Postal service to develop a policy of providing equal employment opportunities for people who observe Shabbat and Sunday.
