Trump has signed a decree authorizing the United States to extract resources in space, including the moon

United States output space activities to a new level, as President Donald trump has signed a decree that allows the US to pursue a cosmic resource activities, including on the moon.

What benefits can extract America from this project? The white house believes that lunar ice and water resources may help the country to establish long-term human presence on the moon.

The order officially allows US to collect resources outside of planet Earth.

The US government and other major space powers in 1979, refused to sign the so-called «Moon Treaty». It States that the international legal framework should govern any unscientific use of resources outside our atmosphere.

In 2015, a new law, which States that American companies and citizens are allowed to own and sell resources collected from celestial bodies such as the Moon or asteroids.

«This creates a solid Foundation for the next phase of our business,» said President and chief engineer, planetary resources Chris lewicki, who is considering extraction of metals and water from asteroids that orbit our planet.

A new Executive order signed by President trump, have made it even more official.

«The United States of America see a clear path to space exploration and believe that space exploration is a global undertaking which does not require any additional agreements,» — said in the White house.

Representatives of NASA, in turn, said that on the dark side of the moon are abundant important resources.

«As America prepares to send humans to the moon and Mars, this order establishes the policy of the United States in the use of space resources, in order to stimulate commercial space development,» said Executive NASA, Scott pace.
