OnlyFans Drops Plans To Ban Porn After Critics

OnlyFans has abandoned plans to ban pornographic content — less than a week after the UK-based content maker site announced the change, citing the need to comply with banking partner policies.

On Wednesday, the company said it “has provided the guarantees necessary to support our diverse community authors «, implying that I have entered into new agreements with banks to disburse funds to OnlyFans content creators, including those who share sexually explicit material.

» Thank you all for letting you hear your voices … We have received the guarantees we need to support our diverse community of creators and have paused a planned policy change on October 1, «the post says.

» OnlyFans stands for inclusiveness and we will continue to support all creators. »

OnlyFans' decision to ban porn content infuriated sex workers who relied on the site to support themselves. In desperation, some content makers have already deactivated their OnlyFans pages and switched to other platforms. Founded in 2016, the site claims to have over 130 million registered users and over 2 million content creators.

While OnlyFans gained popularity mainly through its pornography policy, the company aimed to reach wider audience. For example, this month it officially launched OFTV, a streaming app that excludes sexually explicit content, in part for distribution on platforms that prohibit porn. OFTV is available on Android, iOS, Apple TV, Roku, Amazon's Fire TV, Android TV and Samsung Smart TV.
