«This is a real blow to big tobacco producers, there is no doubt,» said Rob Stein of Morning Edition.
With regard to new types of cigarettes, such as vaping and electronic cigarettes, the FDA announced that manufacturers of these products will be given more time to familiarize themselves with the program.
Under the new plan, the FDA said, manufacturers of cigarettes, tobacco for pipes and tobacco for hookah will have to apply for the program until August 8, 2021.
Management reported that it will also hold public discussions about what to do with «appealing to the child flavors», which are often used in electronic and tobacco cigarettes.
