Picture found in the garage, can turn its owner into a multimillionaire

After a week in Scottsdale, Arizona, auction house, Levine Auction & Appraisal will be offered for sale picture, once considered missing, but after many years accidentally discovered in the garage of one Arizona family.

The owner of the garage in sun city inherited the premises from his sister back in 1992, but 24 years later invited auctioneers of Levine Auction & Appraisal. And among the many boxes of letters, tax returns and other personal belongings they managed to find to find several paintings, written by such outstanding artists as Kenneth Noland, Jules Olitski and Cora Kelly ward.

But the «highlight» of the collection was a canvas painted by the famous American artist of the XX century. Namely, Jackson Pollock, the abstract expressionist.

The work looks like this:

Once this nameless abstract painting gouache in 50 years, belonged to Jennifer Gordon, the new Yorker and a friend of the family Guggenheim. Before her death, she bequeathed the work of Jackson Pollock to his brother, who lived in sun city.

To verify the authenticity of the paintings, chief Executive officer of Levine Auction & Appraisal Josh Levin had to order the carrying out of expensive examination and to hire an investigator, who traced the chain of ownership of the painting. It cost more than $50,000, and took about 18 months, but as it turned out, it was worth it.

Now the starting price for a painting at auction is $10 million, but according to auctioneers, the stakes can rise up to $15 million. The event will be held on June 20, but the day before everyone will be able to see the picture from 16:00 to 19:00.

It’s funny, but when an Arizona family said that painting collecting dust in their garage, done by Jackson Pollock, they said, “Jackson who?”
