Lincoln Center Plaza

Thanks to the world fair 1964 in the city of new attractions, preserved to our days in excellent condition and Teatro David H. Koch is one of them. It was formerly known as Theatre of the state of new York, but in 2008 the oil billionaire donated $ 100 million for its restoration, so the name has changed. The building was designed by architects Philip Johnson and John Burge. While the facade is decorated in a classic style, the inside hides an amazing hall with an interior in the Baroque style, decorated with gilt, velvet and white marble sculptures.

Commission for the protection of architectural monuments calls it the most impressive collection of interiors of the XIX century, preserved in the same building. Built in 1881, the Arsenal of the seventh regiment proudly wears the title of the official sites, which is not surprising, because the best masters of the American aesthetic movement, artists and designers, such as Stanford white and Louis Comfort Tiffany were involved in its creation. Over time, the Arsenal was converted into a cultural institution and is currently undergoing reconstruction.

Only in new York a store devoted to French literature, looks amazing. It is on the first and second floors of the French Embassy on Fifth Avenue, in a stunning house Payne Whitney. The bookstore also has its own reading room is a great place to retreat during the day. The ceiling is decorated with stunning paintings that replicates the ceiling of the music room at the Villa Grand in Munich in Germany.

2155 Dr Martin L King Jr Blvd

Amazing building, built in the classical style by Stanford white, is incredibly similar to the Pantheon in Rome. Its best-known interior is a rotunda crowned by a huge dome. Marble columns and stained glass are other decorative elements that attract attention. The building could use some restoration to this beauty pleasing to the eye even longer.

13/ Marine Air Terminal, LaGuardia airport

Not all airport LaGuardia awful. Here, for example, the Marine Air terminal: despite the fact that it was built during the great depression, it still remains one of the most brilliant parts of the airport. The pride of buildings in the art Deco style can be called a mural entitled «Flight», created by artist James Brooks in the framework of the Federal project. The colorful mural depicts the evolution of flight from the point of view of the person, and she’s just very impressive.

The creation of the imposing concrete structure is the architect Wallace Harrison. The shimmering interior of this building is one of the biggest surprises in new York. A large hall is created using a technique called dalle de verre, which was used thousands of pieces of blue glass embedded in the concrete, resulting in an incredible, almost unearthly effect.

1025 Flatbush Ave

One of the most majestic theaters in Brooklyn wasn’t always like this. Kings Theatre opened in 1929 and was part of the Loew’s Wonder. But he’s not particularly popular, so in the 1970-ies it was closed for almost four decades. But thanks to the painstaking restoration, completed in 2015, the theatre has reopened, more splendid than ever.
