The U.S. permanent representative to the UN , Nikki Haley said that last month expressed by the President of Donald trump’s threats against North Korea was not empty.
In an interview aired on Sunday with Dana Bash on CNN, Haley stressed that the Minister of defence James Mattis has many options for destruction of the nation of approximately 25 million people.
If the United States will exhaust diplomatic options in North Korea, the U.S. military «will take care of it,» said Haley,
«We wanted to be responsible and go through all diplomatic means to first attract their attention,» said Haley. «If that doesn’t work, General Mattis will take care of it».
Haley warned that war would mean the destruction of North Korea.
«If North Korea will continue this reckless behavior, if the United States will defend itself or to defend its allies in any way, North Korea will be destroyed,» said Haley. «We all know that, and none of us wants.»
The UN Security Council has approved a new package of sanctions against North Korea last Monday in response to the sixth and largest nuclear test in the country.
«We pretty much exhausted everything we could do in the Security Council at this point,» said the US Ambassador.
Secretary Rex Tillerson, speaking in the program «Face the Nation» on CBS, said: «If our diplomatic efforts fail, the military solution to the conflict will remain only.»
However, Tillerson stressed the US desire to avoid this and to force China and Russia to act decisively.
«To be clear, say we want a peaceful solution to this problem,» said Tillerson.
