About 2 thousand children were separated from parents on the border of the United States

Around 2 thousand children were separated from their families on the border with the United States over the past six weeks, said the Department of homeland security (Department of Homeland Security).

According to DHS, from April 19 to may 31, 1995 the children were separated from parents in 1940. These statistics include data on all situations occurring on the border: illegal crossings, detention elders because of their crimes.

All these cases are directly connected with the policy of «zero tolerance» — the period of active struggle against illegal migration. About the beginning of the initiative in April, announced attorney General Jeff sessions (Jeff Sessions).

Now all cases of illegal crossing of the border began to be regarded as a criminal offence, and according to the Protocol of the U.S. to detain children with their parents is impossible. Therefore, they are separated with the older for the prosecution of the latter for illegal entry into the country.

The Department regularly criticize religious groups and human rights activists, accusing the authorities of inhumanity. In turn, the attorney General calls the situation a «crisis on the southwest border» and says DHS forced to deal with the problem of available funds.

«The situation on our southwest border is simply unacceptable. Congress failed to adopt an effective legislation that would be in the national interest and would close dangerous loopholes. Instead, it finances the strange funds on the construction of a wall along our southern border. And, as a result, there was a crisis on the southwest border, forcing chase illegal migrants,» said sessions.

Migrants crossing the border in search of asylum on the service pointsare not separated from their families, if we are not talking about criminals.
