The defense Ministry reported that a Russian su-27, made the interception of the American plane in international airspace over the Baltic sea.
According to the Agency, the Russian military noticed the unknown object, which allegedly was close to the border of their country. In this regard, they flew the su-27 which was on the «safe distance» from another aircraft, said the press service. As reported in the Ministry, they identified the object as a reconnaissance aircraft P-8A Poseidon, the U.S. air force.
The press service of the US Navy has not commented on this statement, unlike the last similar incident that occurred in November of last year. Then the us military declared «unsafe and unprofessional manner» the interception by Russian fighter, which lasted 25 minutes.
But despite this, today, January 28, the U.S. Navy reported the arrival on 23 January in Riga (Latvia) destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78), who participated in the strike with cruise missiles «Tomahawk» on the Syrian airbase al-Sirat. It is within the scope of the planned visit to strengthen relations between the two NATO allies.
