On Monday, Donald trump has submitted a budget for 2020, and he does not look too encouraging for the people of new York.
In the budget, which amounted to $4.75 trillion, provided a decrease of $2.7 trillion.
In particular, in new York city significantly cut the cost of NYCHA, Medicare and Medicaid, and fully abandon the project on repair of old tunnels Gateway. The proposed reductions will also affect law enforcement and educational programs, hospitals and medical research in new York.
«The budget, trump will be a real blow to the people of new York city’s middle class,» said Schumer on Tuesday.

However, the new budget trump intends more than $8.6 billion cut funding for HUD, which provides the bulk of NYCHA’s budget. It was also cut about $4.5 billion by reducing expenditures of the state housing Fund.
The proposed budget eliminates the HUD Fund public housing capital in the amount of $2.75 billion and turn it into a Fund for the management of the housing stock, bringing the total funding will decline from $4.5 billion to $2.9 billion.
HUD says the money from the new operating Fund may be used for capital needs, that will allow you to be more flexible to local authorities of public housing. The budget also would add $100 million to the Rental Assistance Demonstration Program that allows housing authorities to attract private donations for repair.
Cost reduction is still a huge blow to NYCHA, which has a list of units requiring major projects worth around $32 billion.

In the budget trump has decided to cut spending on Medicare ($845 billion) and Medicaid (almost $1.5 trillion) over the next 10 years.
According to Schumer, the cuts to Medicaid will affect 6.5 million residents of new York who rely on the program, giving the opportunity to obtain medical assistance to those who could not afford it.
Schumer, the democratic leader in the Senate, noted that trump has promised not to cut Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, when he ran for President but did not keep his campaign promise.

«I understand that the problems in the administration is sometimes hampered presidents to achieve what they were, but they literally contradict what Donald trump told people in his campaign,» said Schumer.
As reported by the Post, the budget also would cut spending by $4.5 billion to the national institutes of health. According to Sumer, it will be a big blow for hospitals in new York, especially in rural areas, and will affect medical research.
The Gateway project will not be funded

Trump has decided not to allocate money for the Gateway project for the repair and replacement of railway tunnels under the Hudson river, which are in critical condition. Currently these tunnels, stood for century, used by all passenger trains Amtrak and NJ Transit, driving between new Jersey and Penn Station.
Cuomo said that trump didn’t mind the repair of the tunnels at the November meeting, but now dramatically changed his mind.
