An empty Church 1869 in Brooklyn will be turned into a luxury residence

The building of the Church St. Elias Church in Greenpoint (Brooklyn, NY) converted into a single family home.

According to plans submitted to the Department of building, long vacant building will be transformed into three-storey residence with an area of 13 800 sq ft (4200 m2).

At the Church, located at 149 Kent St, make a new ladder, upgrade your existing kitchen, equipped bedroom, etc. However, it still has to get permission from the Commission on the attractions of new York.

Currently, the Church owns a real estate company Hirsch Enterprises, which already has experience of reconstruction of places of worship. For example, in 2005, the company converted the former Church of St. George’s in Manhattan, turning him into the house 31 apartment.

Building St. Elias Church company Hirsch Enterprises bought in 2007 for $3.5 million.

«This is definitely a unique property for an artist or for someone who earned a lot of money on wall street,» said Herbert Hirsh, owner of Hirsh Enterprises.

According to preliminary estimates, after the alteration of a historic building, the company intends to sell it for more than $7 million.
