Beach season is coming to an end, but the Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. already had a plan for next summer. He proposes a seasonal pass for Parking in the area of Orchard Beach, known as the Bronx Riviera. Pass Diaz Jr. proposes to introduce in parallel with the charge for a single Parking lot.

In a letter of 2 August, addressed to the Department of parks and recreation services of the city, the borough President wrote that «unlike the guests, some other beaches, such as Rockaway in Queens and South beach on Staten island, visitors to Orchard Beach have to pay for Parking».

«It’s very expensive,» he writes.

Parking currently costs $ 8 per day for cars and vans on weekdays, $ 10 a day on weekends and holidays during the beach season. Diaz Jr. also proposes to introduce a single seasonal pass for Parking, which will cost no more than $ 60 for these types of vehicles and will significantly reduce the costs to those who visit the beach regularly.

It is not known what the decision of the Department. However, the Department reported that the current charge is incurred for a purpose — namely in order to be able to Fund the care and improvement of the 45-acre stretch of beach.
