Transportation hub Oculus, the beautiful brainchild of architect Santiago Calatrava, located near the world trade center, it turns out, was designed so that its roof is capable of opening. Since opening the centre in early 2016, it happens every year on 11 September, as a tribute to all the victims of this dark day.

This morning, at 08:46, wings Oculus opened, passing into the station the sun’s light. The time for this tribute album was chosen – the opening of the roof coincides with the moment when the American Airlines plane crashed into the North out of the twin towers.

According to the master plan done by Daniel Libeskind, Calatrava design uses the angle of the light as the guiding principle for the orientation of the transport node, so that exactly at 10:28 am every 11 November (the time of the collapse of the North tower), the light beam passes through the hole in the roof and is projected on the floor in the center of the Oculus.

The names of all the victims of the attack were read aloud this morning at a ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial.
