One of the world’s largest credit Bureau Equifax reported that the number of victims from the hacking site and leak of personal information of Americans was 2.5 million more than expected.
With refinement, the number of victims increased to at 145.5 million people. Data about their identity (name, date of birth, etc.), social security numbers were stolen as a result of a cyber-attack, which was possible due to the irregularities in the organization of the security of the site.
«I want to apologize to all affected customers,» said recently appointed acting Executive Director of Equifax Paulino to REGO Barros.
«Despite the fact that this important phase of our work completed, we continue to take numerous steps to analysis and the practical improvement of the conditions of cybersecurity. We also continue to work closely with our internal team and external consultants to implement and accelerate the implementation of long-term plans to improve the system security.»
