When the photo taken by Getty photographer David Becker, appeared online, it was unclear whether the girl in the picture (and remains there as her protector), but later it turned out that in a few moments after that photo was taken, the couple got up, ran and hid behind the nearest car.

According to Daily Mail, the hero of the picture — Matthew Cobos, US army soldier from California, who serves on the Hawaii. It was also known that the kobos, as soon as brought the girl to the safe zone, returned to the scene of the shooting to help other wounded.
«The bullets rebound in front of me,» he said later family and friends.

The soldier used his belt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding, and even plugged bullet wounds with fingers. Probably thanks to people like Matthew and others who were heroes that night, the number of victims has not increased even more.

In hospitals remain more than 130 wounded, 48 of them in critical condition.
Recall, a former marine in the shooting stole the truck to move the wounded to hospitals.
