Passports of American citizens significantly «devalued» from the point of view of global mobility. Just two years ago , the United States together with great Britain headed the list of countries whose citizens can visit the other country without a visa.
After Donald trump became President, the power of the US passport has dropped significantly. In the ranking of 2017 by the international financial company, Arton Capital, the American document was down 6 points compared to the year 2015 and took the 6th position. Now the U.S. passport is along with Irish, canadian and Malaysian. These countries have a visa-free regime in 156 States.
This jump is related to the fact that almost immediately after the inauguration of the President, a few countries abolished the visa-free regime for holders of American passports. For example, Turkey and Central African Republic withdrew a tourist visa for US citizens.
In September the US State Department banned American citizens to travel to North Korea – this is the first time the administration trump’s direct decree declared a taboo on visiting another country.
New ranking the most powerful passports in the world of 2017 is headed by Singapore. Philip May, managing Director of the Singapore office of Arton Capital, told CNN that for small countries «that are not a threat to anyone,» the borders are more open.
Worst record in the passport of Afghanistan – only 22 countries do not require residents of this state a visa. Followed by Iraq and Pakistan, which have visa-free access to 26 countries. A little better situation of Syria, its citizens can freely visit 29 States.
