Maria was the worst hurricane that hit the island over the last 90 years. In this regard, all the resources of the Federal Fund for assistance to victims of emergencies and related programs are at the moment completely exhausted.

Permanent representative of the dependent territories Jennifer Gonzalez-colon urged Congress not simply to allocate money for the reconstruction of Puerto Rico after the disaster, but also for the modernization of its infrastructure, which before the storm was in a deplorable condition.

We will remind, on 20 September, a powerful hurricane Maria with winds of 150 miles an hour, rushed to the island, depriving it of without electricity at 100%. According to the latest U.S. Department of energy, less than half – 47.8 percent of electricity restored at the moment.

Rossello, stressed that the repair work will be «the most transparent» in U.S. history. The announcement came amid recent criticism of the government of Puerto Rico, which signed a contract for 300 million dollars with a small company in Montana to restore the electrical network.
