Survey | Nearly half of American women have experienced sexual violence

According to a new survey conducted by Quinnipiac Universityalmost half of American women have experienced sexual violence.

Publication of the results of the survey coincided with the announcement by the magazine Time motion #MeToo «Man of the year 2017» and report on the NYPD increased the number of registered rapes.

According to a survey by Quinnipiac University, 47% of women across the country claim that they were subjected to sexual violence. It’s not just about rape, but about other manifestations of a sexual nature, including touching, against the will of women.

Moreover, 17% of men stated that they had been sexually abused.

If to speak about the circumstances of the Commission of the assault, 39% of respondents said that it happened in a public place, 37% — at work, 27% said it happened in their house, 20% — on the street and 19 % said that they have become victims of sexual violence in school.

Of the total number of respondents 32% of adult Americans have experienced sexual violence. In the age group of 18 to 34 years the number of victims of violence was 33% in the group from 35 to 49 years — 30%, from 50 to 64 years — with 36% among people over 64 years of age — 34%.

About 63% of respondents said that they do not approve of «how the Republican party deals with the problem of sexual harassment and sexual assault policy». 39% of respondents do not approve of measures taken by the Democrats.

All experts were interviewed 1774 adult American.

The survey was conducted from 28 November to 4 December 2017. the error of the result is 2.8%.
