City beaches and pools will be open after labor Day

Officials said that this year, for the third time in a row, the city’s beaches and pools will work for a week more than usual. Visitors will be able to splash in some water and bask in the sun up until 10 September. It is a week later than labor Day, which traditionally closes the season.

Mayor bill de Blasio announced in a press release that such decision was taken, as for millions of residents of new York city’s public beaches and pools are a necessity: there they go in the hot summer days, to relax, to play sports and just chill for a second.

This pleasure will cost the city approximately $1.7 million, including the hiring of lifeguards, maintenance staff and other employees of the parks Department. The money was also incorporated in the latest draft of the city budget.

The extending of the beaches was first proposed in 2015, mark Levine, Chairman of the Committee on parks and recreation of the City Council, who said that during this week’s public beaches and pools provide citizens the opportunity easier to survive the heat.

All beaches opened memorial Day and the season of the outdoor pools will start on June 28. Last year nearly 16 million people visited city beaches, and another 1.9 million people visited the outdoor pools.
