Obama is ahead of trump in the rating «the most respected men of the United States»

The results of a survey conducted by Gallup, shows that former US President Barack Obama is «the most respected man in America» in 2017 and he gets the title for the tenth year in a row.

The survey is conducted annually since 1946. Respondents are asked to independently name the name of the most distinguished men and most admired women in America. Then people have to determine the names of those who comes in second place.

In 2017 for Obama the votes were given by 17% of respondents, making it the No. 1 ranking. In second place was the current President of the United States – Donald trump (14% of the votes). Followed by Pope Francis and the Reverend Billy Graham. With a small number of votes, the list includes John McCain, bill gates, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and the Dalai Lama. In 2016 the leaders of the rating were the same. Barack Obama, the respondents gave 22% of the votes, and Donald Trump, who was then in second place, only 15%.

The most respected woman USA 16th consecutive year was Hillary Clinton. For her voice gave 9% of respondents. This is a real record – Clinton has become «the most respected» more than any other man or woman in the country.

Gallup explains the victory for Clinton, «this year she managed to win because she is perhaps more prominent than other candidates».

On the second place of the rating «the most respected women in the United States» was Michelle Obama (7%). Third on the list was Oprah Winfrey (4%). With much less performance in the rankings were first lady Melania trump, Queen Elizabeth II, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, beyoncé and U.S. Ambassador to the UN , Nikki Haley.

If we talk about the distribution of votes between those who support Republicans and those on the side of the Democrats, 35% Republicans voted for trump and only 1% for Obama. Of the supporters of Democrats, 39% voted for Obama and 3% for trump.

The survey was held from 4-11 December and covered 1 049 adult Americans. The error results is 4%.
