The U.S. army and the Department of homeland security has created a computer simulator that trains teachers how best to react in a situation when the school shooting happens.

The program, worth 5.6 million dollars, is called the «Enhanced dynamic geo-social environment» or «EDGE». It is similar to that used by the army for training soldiers for combat operations, the development of different tactics and strategies of behavior in the military context.

Now adapted programme will be available for teachers and students across the country. The school version should be ready by the spring.

Bob Walker, the project leader, said the program is designed to be placed in the first place, teachers in conditions similar to those when the school appears active shooter. After all, teachers are the first to react to danger.

Simulation of arrow action in the program developed on the basis of data obtained from survivors of school shootings and their parents. The actions in the simulator are accompanied by the cries of children and the firing sounds for greater realism.

Will the use of the program is mandatory for teachers is not known. However, free access will be able to get all members of the school administration and teachers.
