At the Bronx zoo died, the only white bear Tundra

Polar bear from the Bronx zoo named Tundra died. She was put to sleep by order of the administration of the zoo in connection with a number of incurable diseases caused by old age.

Dipper turned 26 years old. She suffered from kidney failure and severe arthritis. The procedure for euthanasia of the animal was held on Saturday, Christmas eve.

The white bear has never lived in the wild, she was born at the Bronx zoo and spent there all his life. The administration of the zoo said that in the near future intends to search for and purchase of another polar bear.

Shortly before the death of the bear, on the website Change.org was created a petition for her release and placement in conditions of wild nature. However, it has not managed to gain the stated number of votes.
