The man was deprived of citizenship after 25 years after arriving in the United States

Resident of new Jersey were deprived of their citizenship after the authorities found out that he used a false name when he came to the United States for more than 25 years ago.

In 1991, Baljinder Singh arrived in San Francisco from India without personal documents that would confirm his identity. During check in USA he claimed that his name was Davinder Singh.

After the man did not appear at the hearings in immigration court, 7 January 1992, the decision was made for his deportation. And after a month the man asked the United States for asylum, not only posing as Davinder and Baljinder Singh.

Singh eventually refused the application for asylum and married an American in 1996. In 2006, he received the US citizenship.

On Friday, January 12, the court made the decision on deprivation of citizenship Singh, who remained in the country illegally. He became the first immigrant, who was denaturalization, thanks to «Operation Janus».

According to the Ministry of justice, the office of citizenship and immigration of the United States, which has created a separate team for dealing with Janus, plans to transfer about 1,600 additional cases for prosecution.
