The theft occurred on Sunday during the governors Ball, the after-party after the awards ceremony of the American Academy. Using the fact that the rightful owner of «Oscar» was distracted and put the prize aside, the 47-year-old Terry Bryant grabbed the statue and headed towards the exit. As reported in his Twitter journalist for the New York Times Cara Buckley, McDormand asked to let go of the thief, and he went home to post on social networks false statements about his victory.
