Today, after 19 00, over the East river crashed helicopter with tourists. Eurocopter AS350 crashed into the water near 88th Street near Gracie Mansion.
According to eyewitnesses, the pilot was able to get out of the helicopter, but inside there are still five people. Two of them managed to pull it off. According to authorities, one of the tourists had to be taken to Bellevue Hospital.
At the scene police, FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
Eric Phillips, a spokesman for mayor De Blasio, said in a tweet that «at least one person survived and two died.» Rescuers still in the water.
UPD.: All five passengers of the helicopter died: two died on the spot, another three died at a local hospital, where he was taken in serious condition. The only survivor is the pilot. Before the helicopter crash he reported on the failed engine. The incident is being investigated.
