NYC Pride March: as it was (photo)

In many parts of the world June is traditionally the month dedicated to the LGBTcommunity , as well as the proclamation of equality for all citizens regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity. During this period, in large cities , about 50 countries are numerous events in the form of marches, demonstrations and film screenings on relevant topics, concerts and parties.

On Sunday, June 25, in new York in 48-th time held an annual «March of pride» (NYC Pride March), which is considered the oldest and one of the world’s biggest LGBT pride parades.

It was first held in 1970, the first anniversary of Stonewalls riots – a significant event, when the LGBT community had a mass resistance to the police, who raided a new York gay bar Stonewall Inn.

By long tradition, the March takes place along Fifth Avenue. It begins at the intersection with 36th street, and ends in the West Village at the bar.

The March was headed by representatives of the organization «the American Union of protection of civil liberties», as well as Geng Le (Creator of the world’s largest social network for homosexuals – Blued), Brooke Guinan (a transgender woman serving in the fire Department of new York city) and Krishna stone (Director of public relations in the organization Gay Men’s Health Crisis).

Despite the fact that the main slogan of the event this year was the phrase We Are Proud, calling people to be proud of themselves and who they are, some of the marchers decided with the help of their banners, t-shirts and caps to act against violence against the African-American population to Express protest against President trump and remember the victims of last year’s terrorist attack in Orlando.
