Shooting in Uber: a passenger is suspected of killing his wife

Monday, July 3, the district court of King County in Seattle has started the trial of 31-year-old Cameron Espitia, who is suspected of killing his wife during their joint trip to Uber. It is known that the man was in a state of alcoholic intoxication.

On that fateful Sunday night, his wife, 29-year-old Jennifer Espitia was in the front seat next to the driver. Between spouses there was a quarrel and soon, Cameron is sitting at the back, pulled the gun and shot his wife in the head.

According to the driver, he feared he might be next, and so I asked Cameron where to go. He replied to the taxi driver just drove on, and at the intersection of Second Avenue West and West McGraw Place got out of the car.

After that the driver immediately called the police. Jennifer was taken to Harborview medical center, where doctors declared her dead.

Law enforcement officers found Cameron sleeping in the bushes, near where he landed, at about 02:00. His semi-automatic handgun was in the holster. About the murder of his wife, he didn’t remember, like everything that happened after the call the car service Uber.

«The Prosecutor says Cameron Espitia «carried out the murder» of his wife when they were driving for Uber with a driver in the vehicle.»

Police took Epitia to the district reformatory. Established by the court the amount of bail for his release is $3 million.

Investigators found out that Cameron had served in the U.S. Coast guard approximately 13 years. During the court session on the case is his former colleague, Elliot Felix, claimed that Espitia not capable of such violence, and even tried to convince the judge to reduce the bail amount.

Until the investigation is still underway, and prosecutors have not filed formal charges against Cameron, he remains in custody on suspicion of second-degree murder. The next hearing is scheduled for Thursday, July 6.
