The California Department of wildlife reports that biologists managed to catch a young gray wolf in Lassen County and to put her special collar with a tracking device. Scientists have confirmed that the she-wolf and her wolf made this year at least three puppies.

Officials say this is the second pack of wolves discovered in Northern California in 2015. Another litter of cubs appeared in Lassen County in June.

Wolves were seen by one of the surveillance cameras of the Forest service of the United States.
In accordance with the laws of the state of California, the hunt for gray wolves is prohibited, as they are an endangered species and protected by the Federal government.

Little is known about the historical abundance and distribution of wolves in California. The California wildlife Department investigated numerous reports of encounters of people with wolves, however, most of the animals were coyotes, dogs or wolves métis.
