101-year-old woman broke a record in running on 100 meters

From Usain Bolt had a serious rival and it does not seem to stop. Meet the 101-year-old Julia Hawkins. On Saturday it was the old athlete that ever participated in the USA Track and Field Outdoors Masters Championships. But Julia became a member of the race. No, she ran 100 meters in 40.12 seconds, thereby breaking the world record among women older than 100 years.

As the Washington Post reported this is not her first victory. This month at the National Senior Games in Birmingham, Alabama, Hawkins ran the race for 39,62 seconds. If the record lock, it will be a world record holder.

She spoke at an event in Louisiana State University: «For this I skipped my afternoon dream.»
It seems that Hawkins is a talent. She is an avid cyclist, and athletics she took up only last year. «I’m always in the fresh air and when the phone rings, I run struggled in the house,» she told The Post last month.
