New York’s got a plan of reorganization of metro

The head of the Transport Department of new York Joe Lhota on Tuesday unveiled a plan to «stabilize and modernize» the metro system. It includes a pilot program on reduction of places in L trains to increase capacity.

«We are here today because of the deteriorating quality of service and efficiency of the subway system of new York,» said Lhota, presenting a short-term plan to improve the service, consisting of five items.

The main attention will be paid to the correction signals, ensuring power sources, service roads, improvements to platforms and to improve the overall transport in the metro.

The pilot program for the reduction of seats will run on the L trains and Shuttle.
«We want to find the best way … how to remodel our trains,» said Lhota, adding that other subway systems in US cities are also experimenting with this idea.

Lhota announced the short term in anticipation of the end of the deadline, which Governor Andrew Cuomo gave Management after declaring a state of emergency.
Lhota said that «no doubt» that the metro system has let down its passengers, and now the only thing is the plan is passengers.

The announcement followed a string of service disruptions that have occurred in recent months, including two derailed trains, interruptions in the supply of electricity and fire.

Cuomo ordered Lhote to prepare a «plan of reorganization» within 30 days after June 29, 2017, he declared a state of emergency. It happened two days after the collapse in Harlem, which injured at least 39 people.

Transport Department of new York has announced that it will release its plan for the next day after on Monday, mayor bill de Blasio presented his own recommendations.
