According to Curbed, the San Francisco plan to build a floating fire station that will be able to provide rapid response for fire alarms on coast. The platform will contain a few jet skis and motor boats that will deliver the firefighters to the required places in minutes.
Presentation of the new station was made by the public works Department in June. Two-story fire station will be located on the barge, with an area of 19 300 square feet, tied to the shore. The design resembles a floating home, but she will be able to move through the water. The cost of the project is provisionally estimated at 39.9 million dollars. The construction of the station will not start before 2019. Initially, the plant will be built on Treasure Island, and then will be transported to the place of permanent location.
