Members of the Black Caucus – Association of African-American congressmen — call to remove the monuments to the confederates from the building of the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

«We will never solve the racial problem of America, if you will honor traitors who fought against the United States to keep African Americans in chains. Thank God they lost,» said the President of the Council Black Caucus, Cedric Richmond (D-La).
A member of the house of representatives, Bennie Thompson (D-Miss), answering the question about the statues in the Capitol, agreed that the monuments to the confederates must be removed.
«The monuments of the Confederacy is no place in this country and especially no place in the Capitol. They are symbols of racial discrimination and segregation, which still exists in the United States, and many African-Americans continue to face racism,» — said the newspaper The Hill, Congressman. «The time to act to remove symbols of the Confederacy, not only from Capitol building but from the flag of Mississippi», he added.
With the adoption of the new flag of Georgia in 2003, the flag of the state of Mississippi was the only one that remained the image of the cross from the war flag of the confederates.
Meanwhile, President Donald trump at a press conference on Tuesday did not welcome the initiative of the destruction of the symbols of the Confederacy.

In the Capitol is, at least, the nine statues of the former leaders of the Confederacy and its military officers.
