A United Airlines flight made an emergency landing: the engine began to escape the flames (video)

The flight operated by United Airlines from San Diego (California) to Chicago (Illinois) was forced to make an emergency landing in Albuquerque after one of the engines began to escape the flames.

Chicago flight landed safely in new Mexico on Monday night, December 16, and United Airlines have arranged another plane to take passengers to their destination.

One of the passengers, Thomas Chorny, made a video of the incident, sitting on the ground 34F overlooking the right wing.

Strange to sit there & think ‘What if this is it?’ To just sit there & accept the potential fate that seems to be a possibility & not tell the sleeping people all around you. No need to panic the others. I’m a pretty calm person but took me a while to stop the shakes & trembles. pic.twitter.com/4rWfNvFhBM

«The plane began to slightly shake, like turbulence, but the wings were completely still. I was dozing but opened his eyes to look out the window and saw the fire emanating from the right engine, ‘ he said to CNN. They killed the engine, and the flames went out, and then we began to lose height. It took about 10 minutes when they announced that we will land in Albuquerque».

According to an eyewitness, the flames were seen only a few passengers, and he did not tell other people to not panic.
«It is a strange feeling: to sit, not knowing exactly what’s going on,» added Thomas Chorny.

According to representatives of airline, flight 366 «sat down in Albuquerque after a mechanical problem with one of the engines.»

«He landed safely. We agreed on a different plane to get our customers to their destination, said United Airlines. – Technical team will test the motor to see what happened. There were no injuries».
