Disney Replaces Magic Kingdom Fireworks Show Greetings With Gender Neutral

Striving to become More inclusive Disney has changed the welcome note ahead of the Magic Kingdom fireworks show.

On Wednesday, June 30, theme park staff were invited to a special preview of the new Magic Kingdom fireworks show in Orlando, Florida. The fireworks themselves did not undergo any noticeable changes, but those present quickly noticed that the greeting before the show sounded differently.

The usual «Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls» was replaced by the phrase «Good evening, dreamers of all ages ! «

While some were unhappy with the change, others praised the new version for its atmospheric.

“ I like 'dreamers of all ages': it sounds cozy and magical. — wrote one of the users — So cute. «

» If you don't like a greeting that includes everyone , that says a lot about you, «another remarked, addressing his words to critics.

A gender neutral greeting is just part of the theme park's efforts to make it more inclusive.

It recently redesigned Splash Mountain, which features music from Songs of the South ”criticized for racism. The theme park has also promised to remove offensive images from its Jungle Cruise — stating that it intends to get rid of “negative images” of indigenous peoples while remaining true to “the experience we know and love.”
