The Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda in the United States Ronald Sanders says: «for the First time in 300 years on the island of Barbuda, there is not one living human being — a civilization that exists on this island for over 300 years now extinguished».

According to Sanders, Irma was «the most cruel and merciless storm» in the history of the island. The hurricane actually took the area of 378 miles wide when he descended on Barbuda island, an area of only 62 square miles.

«Most people we have placed in shelters in Antigua,» says Sanders. «In these circumstances, we tried to make dwelling as good as possible.
