The number of victims of earthquakes is growing while Mexico is suffering from the new aftershocks

A second earthquake of magnitude 5.9 on the Richter scale occurred Sunday morning off the coast of Mexico. As CBC writes, the epicenter was recorded in the Mexican state of Chiapas. On whether there are casualties and destruction as yet unknown.

According to the seismologists, a series of aftershocks — the aftershocks after a powerful earthquake of magnitude of 8.1 points, which occurred on 7 September and claimed the lives of 100 people.

Two weeks later, on 19 September, Mexico suffered another earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 points. According to the latest authorities, the death toll was 318. People died in the States of Oaxaca, Puebla, Guerrero, Mexico and Morelos.

The cause of such frequent strong earthquakes in Mexico called the geographical position of the state. The country is in the zone of high seismic activity known as the Pacific fire belt or the Pacific ring extending around the perimeter of the Pacific ocean along the Eastern coast of Asia and West coast of the Americas.
