The Syrian military under the command of the United States completely liberated Raqqa from ISIS

From November 2016 democratic Syrian army (SDF) together with the United States, Britain and France launched an offensive under the code name Wrath of the Euphrates. The main aim of the operation was to liberate the city of al-Raqqah of the Islamic state militants.

The U.S. government, in coalition with other States decided to support the Alliance of Democratic forces of Syria whose primary purpose is to combat ISIL. During the offensive, which lasted almost a year, military forces were gradually released to nearby communities and close to raqqa. And on June 6 began the assault on the city.

Today Reuters reported the complete liberation of the whole territory of Raqqa from representatives of the terrorist group. In honor of this important strategic victory, the members of the SDF hoisted on the main square the flag of the people’s protection Units (YPG) – one of the most numerical of the paramilitaries.

Despite the fact that the fighting has ended, the city is not completely cleared. As reported by the NY Daily News, thousands of Syrian Islamist fighters have left al-raqqa with their families.
