Pyrotechnics is not only an integral arebut Christmas holidays, but also a source of danger. Another reminder of this came from Cuba, where a spontaneous explosion of fireworks injured nearly four dozen people.

The incident occurred during the Christmas festival Parrandas which takes place on Christmas Eve in Remedios and annually attracts thousands of Cubans.

The explosions began when a spark got into the bags with fireworks. In a matter of seconds the city’s Central square looked like a field of battle — scared people had nowhere to hide from the rain of fire.

During the emergency, injured 39 people, including 6 children aged from 11 to 15 years — 27 of the victims were seriously injured, and 8 are in critical condition.
