Brazil’s Supreme court has allowed broadcast of the Netflix Comedy «the First temptation of Christ» in which Jesus depicts a homosexual. The judge quashed a decision by the court of Rio de Janeiro, on January 9 and required the company to remove from its library of film.
The Minister of Toffoli Diaz, President of the Supreme court, said that «we should not assume that humorous satire can undermine the values of the Christian faith». According to Catholics, in this case «background correct, but the conclusion not.»

Because of the scandalous film a court in Brazil faced a difficult choice between the country’s dominant religion and freedom of speech and expression. In the intensifying debate on the subject raised sensitive issues such as homophobia, censorship, tolerance and blasphemy.
Catholics expressed their outrage in the following way:
«Jesus Christ is God, we Catholics do believe that, If we pass this truth on to our children, how can we be indifferent to the productions in which he is portrayed as a lecherous drunk? How can our faith in the divinity of Christ to remain without attention to the insults against this truth?»
The film «the First temptation of Christ» was shown on Netflix in the Catholic Christmas eve, on December 3. In the story of Jesus Christ after 40 days in the wilderness, returns home and introduces his family, Mary, Joseph and God, with a new boyfriend — Orlando. In addition, the movie characters smoke marijuana, and God declares that Jesus Masturbates.

In Brazil, the film was criticized by conservatives and religious leaders. The petition demanding to ban a Comedy, has already gathered almost 2.5 million signatures.
On the morning of 24 December, 3 weeks after the premiere of the film on Netflix, the office of the creators of this film, the Brazilian Comedy group Porta dos Fundos (port. «The back door»), threw «Molotov cocktails,» reports Variety.
Police launched an investigation on suspicion of attempted murder. One of the suspects fled to Russia.
Two petrol bombs were thrown at the building that housed the office of Porta dos Fundos. The fire started which was extinguished by one of the guards. As a result of attack nobody suffered, but the incident «jeopardize several innocent lives in the company and on the street,» said the press representative of the «Back door» and gave the authorities the record with surveillance cameras.
