Huge failure, with a depth of 12 meters, was formed in the middle of the Playground in Buckinghamshire. A rare natural phenomenon occurred after heavy rains that recently passed in the UK.
The first pit was discovered 50-year-old Leslie James, when you were walking the dog on Capers field on Saturday, 29 February. Despite the width a little more than a meter, the failure was over 12 meters deep.
«It was a little scary because I didn’t know if there was anything under the place where I was standing.» says Leslie. «Fortunately, I and the dog was the only one on the field at the moment.»
Leslie covered the hole with a wooden pallet, in order to protect other people before arrival of experts. She said in an interview that «no idea» what was the cause of the failure.
The field was located on the site of a city dump, where many old wells. In those years, the engineers did not know that many years later to the place of rest, which they organized, can produce dangerous failures.
The failure continues to grow, and the city authorities decided to cordon off the entire Park, while experts will find a way out. A member of the parish Council Malcolm silver said that it would take a very long time for elimination of failure. He explained that earlier in the territory of the Park there was a brick factory, and what this place leaking underground waters, which wash away the soil.
«Probably a combination of the recent wet weather and the fact that at the site there were three old wells, led to this failure.» — said silver.
