TikTok is trying to remove videos in which a man shot himself with a shotgun. Social media is blocking the accounts of people who upload this clip.

According to social media, the clip — in which 33-year-old Ronnie McNutt committed suicide while streaming live from his own home — originally appeared on Facebook. After that, many TikTok users also started posting videos on their pages. Some even masked the shocking moment of suicide in the guise of more innocent tapes.

A TikTok spokesperson confirmed to The Verge that «suicide clips» began circulating Sunday night.

Some of the videos on TikTok appear in the general section «for you», which means that many users can become unwilling viewers of the footage. In this regard, TikTok tries to warn viewers about any traumatic content — and this case is no exception.

Alerts have also started popping up on Instagram, where video clips are being circulated. On Twitter, parents talk about their children who, after watching the video, experienced psychological trauma.

“If you suddenly see this guy on your page , please do not look. Terrible sight, ”warns one Twitter user.

“I was watching TikTok and suddenly there was a video in which a guy took his own life with a shotgun. — writes another — Seriously, do not watch it and do not try to find it! I am still trembling all over. »

McNutt, a former military veteran who served in Iraq, worked at Toyota's Blue Springs, New Albany plant. According to unconfirmed reports, he lost his job and broke up with his girlfriend shortly before committing suicide.
