A senior Oregon Health Department official disguised herself as a clown before announcing the death toll from the coronavirus.
Claire Poche, senior health advisor to the Oregon State Health Department, wore white and red clown makeup for her face, and wore a red tie and a bright polka dot shirt.
“Today there are 38,160 COVID-19 patients in Oregon. Today 390 new cases have become known, ”she began her presentation.
“Unfortunately, we also have to report three deaths, bringing the total statewide death toll from coronavirus to 608,” the woman added.
The costume was part of a discussion about safely celebrating Halloween during the pandemic. The coronavirus has «changed» the way Halloween is celebrated, officials said, but the holiday «can still be creepy and fun.»
The video went live on October 14, but went viral on Tuesday after being shared by Samantha Swindler, a journalist for The Oregonian.
“How could anyone think that this was a good idea?” — she commented on the video, which has already collected more than 3.5 thousand retweets.
