18-year-old Carmen Curley from Northern Ireland that has forgotten to buy insurance for their holidays in the United States, put a medical bill in the amount of $150 thousand due to the traumatic brain injury she received in an accident in Los Angeles.
Last week, Carmen went to visit her sister sian, who is studying at Southern Connecticut State University. Girls planned to go to the «memorable trip» along the West coast of California with classmates of Siani.
According to the page on GoFundMe, the company leased two weeks the camper. The beginning of their journey was «amazing». However, just a few days, when they decided to rent electric scooters, Carmen had an accident.

«We decided to rent electric scooters are used by everyone in the neighborhood. Carmen went ahead, but suddenly we saw her hit a pothole and flew through the front of the scooter,» wrote sian.
Sister was convinced that Carmen is all right, but when she approached, she saw that the one lying unconscious in a pool of blood. The girl lay unconscious in the ICU for more than eight hours.
«We held different scan and we found that she had a brain hemorrhage and she had broken some bones, including the collarbone, eye socket, nose and possibly the hand,» says sian.
Because Carmen has not issued travel insurance before the trip, her treatment cost $15 thousand a day.
Last year the sisters lost their mother, so the family really needs money, because they are still paying for the funeral, says sian. It is for this reason she has created a page on GoFundMe.
«Carmen is feeling much better and every day is on the mend,» said sian.
The girl encourages everyone who is going on vacation, make sure they have health insurance.
