At the peak of the summer season on Cape Code was hit by a devastating tornado

On Tuesday evening, a powerful tornado swept through Massachusetts, knocking power lines and trees and tearing the roof of the hotel Cape Sands Inn in Yarmouth.

Over 50 thousand people remained without electricity. In Harwich, where 90% of homes have electricity, declared a state of emergency. Tornado has a top speed of 110 miles per hour and was classified as severe on a scale of Fujita.

The weather service issued a series of warnings about tornadoes and heavy rainfall for the Cape and Islands of Nantucket and Martha’s vineyard.

Megan McGuire, who stayed at the hotel Cape Sands Inn, when a tornado hit the coast, I witnessed as the element breaks the roof of the hotel.

«My mom was just sitting in the rooms. she said Everything went dark, we closed the curtains, hiding between two beds, and pillows covered the head. The sound was like someone went a freight train».

«It was something from the Wizard of Oz. I’m from out of town, but I’ve never seen anything like it. told 7News another guest of the hotel. — I went through this the first time and hopefully the last.»
